Brand and Marketing Strategist

Turning Potential into Clear Marketing

In the true spirit of entrepreneurship, Ashley noticed a problem and launched a business with a clear mission in mind.

I wanted to create a space where women could feel supported, informed, and empowered to market their businesses with more clarity and confidence.

For many entrepreneurs, there is a single moment when everything clicks. For Ashley that moment was about identifying the real problem holding business owners back from marketing their businesses effectively.

My ‘aha’ moment came when I recognised that many business owners weren’t struggling because they lacked potential, but because they lacked clarity and strategy.

It was a powerful insight.

Rather than focusing on tactics, trends, or chasing visibility, she realised the most valuable thing she could provide was clarity. Clarity of voice together with clarity in messaging and marketing strategy.

That insight became the foundation of her business.

Her years of experience in corporate banking developed her communication, organisation, strategic thinking, and client relationship skills while her academic pursuits in Management Studies and Strategic Marketing equipped her with the technical expertise to take up the challenge and launch BluePrintMkting.

The Entrepreneurial Shift

Like many professionals transitioning into entrepreneurship, the hardest part in becoming a Brand and Marketing Strategist wasn’t learning new skills. It was adapting to a completely different way of working.

One of the biggest challenges was adjusting from structure and predictability to having to create my own systems, direction, and consistency as an entrepreneur.

In a corporate environment, processes already exist, expectations are defined and success is measured against established benchmarks.

Entrepreneurship is different.

Suddenly, every decision, every strategy, and every result become your responsibility.

The transition also brought new fears.

I had to face fears around visibility, uncertainty, and whether I was truly ready.

While those fears still appear occasionally, she has learned not to let them dictate her actions.

Like many entrepreneurs, those fears still show up at times, but I’ve learned not to dwell on that feeling.

More importantly, she experienced a significant mindset shift that many aspiring entrepreneurs struggle to make.

I had to stop waiting for permission, trust my own ideas more, and learn to see myself not just as someone doing the work, but as someone leading a vision.

Building a Brand with Purpose

When it came time to build her own brand, Ashley started by defining her purpose.

I started by focusing on the problem I genuinely wanted to solve and the type of impact I wanted to have.

From there, her brand evolved around four core principles: clarity, strategy, authenticity, and support.

Her approach to establishing credibility was equally intentional. Instead of trying to appear as the loudest voice in the room, she focused on consistency and genuine connection.

Consistency, providing value, clear messaging, and building genuine relationships have been some of the most effective strategies for establishing trust and credibility.

She also made a conscious effort to communicate in a way that felt approachable.

Instead of overcomplicating marketing, I prioritised clarity and practical guidance that made women feel seen, understood, and capable.

That commitment to simplicity would become one of her strongest differentiators.

Lessons Learned Along the Way

The entrepreneurial journey is filled with lessons and challenges. Ashley quickly learnt from a common mistake entrepreneurs make.

One mistake was feeling like I needed to be everywhere at once.

Over time, this reaffirmed one of her core beliefs about marketing.

Effective marketing is less about doing everything and more about doing the right things intentionally and consistently.

In fact, the biggest lesson she’s learned as a business owner comes back to the same principle that inspired her business in the first place.

When your messaging, strategy, and vision are clear, decision-making becomes much easier and your marketing becomes far more effective.

The Reality of Entrepreneurship

Today, Ashley describes her business as being in a season of growth and refinement.

I’m currently in a growth and building stage where I’m refining my offers, strengthening my brand foundation, and intentionally building a business that aligns with both impact and sustainability.

It’s a reminder that entrepreneurship isn’t a destination. It’s an ongoing process of learning, adapting, and evolving.

She believes many people misunderstand what the transition from employee to entrepreneur actually requires.

Entrepreneurship is not just about freedom or flexibility. It requires discipline, resilience, self-leadership, and the willingness to keep showing up even when things feel uncertain.

Advice on Branding Expertise

For Ashley, building a business based on your expertise isn’t about reinventing yourself. It’s about recognising the knowledge, skills, and insights you’ve already earned and applying them to solve a meaningful problem.

Don’t underestimate the value of the skills and experience you already have. Focus on how your expertise solves a real problem and build from there intentionally.

It’s a lesson many aspiring entrepreneurs need to hear. Too often, experts overlook the value of their own experience while chasing additional credentials or waiting until they feel “ready.” Yet the foundation of a successful business is rarely built on knowing everything. It’s built on using the expertise you already have to solve a real problem for real people.
